Return to Gaia, Chapter 1 Van stood in front of Hitomi and held her hand for the last time. She smiled at him and hugged him. The blinding pillar of light surrounded her for the last time. It glowed around Hitomi as she slowly lifted into the air, slipping from his arms. “Wait, Hitomi! Don’t leave! Come back!” Van woke in his bed, gasping for air and drenched in sweat.
